HDR example Empty HDR example

Hey

Whilst on vacation we took some great pics on the Big Sur, mainly of sea.

When we get home I plan to make some of the best ones into HDR. HDR stands for High Dynamic Range, it makes your pictures far more vivid and just outstanding.
This is how we make an HDR image:

We take an underexposed copy of the photo and an overexposed one. We then use a program like Photoshop to merge them together using the HDR tool. The result is on the right.

As you can see the colours are vivd and it looks amazing.

But now you are wondering how we get the exact same image, over AND underexposed. A good question, and a simple answer. We use Raw. By taking the image in Raw format we can change it in post as though we are taking a different photo.
I am yet to work out the exact settings to change and by how much but when I work it out I'll post with result.

Oh and you really need photoshop extended to do this as it has an auto merger tool Wink
